About the work

Ataru Moroboshi, an ordinary high schooler with legendarily bad luck, unwittingly becomes engaged to Lum, a tiger-striped alien princess who came to invade Earth, after defeating her in a game meant to decide the planet's fate. From then on, their chaotic daily life draws an ever more eccentric cast of characters into the small town of Tomobiki.

Created by Rumiko Takahashi in 1978, Urusei Yatsura was one of the very first sci-fi romantic comedies to achieve massive success in Japan, laying the groundwork for a genre that would go on to influence manga and anime for decades. Its absurd humor and unforgettable cast made the series a timeless classic, well before Takahashi's other major hits like Ranma ½ and Inuyasha.
