About the work

Ichigo Kurosaki, a high schooler able to see ghosts, sees his life upended when he inherits the powers of Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, injured while protecting his family. Now a Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo must purify Hollows — souls corrupted by grief — while gradually being drawn into the Soul Society and its merciless laws.

Created by Tite Kubo, Bleach became one of the pillars of the shōnen "Big Three" alongside Naruto and One Piece, carried by ambitious story arcs — Aizen's rebellion, the bloody war against the Quincy — and a power system (Zanpakuto, Bankai) that became iconic. The saga's conclusion, Thousand-Year Blood War, adapted into anime years after the manga ended, marked the franchise's triumphant return.
