About the work

Donghua refers to animation produced in China, a fast-growing genre built on worlds inspired by Chinese martial traditions and mythology, spanning wuxia and xianxia. Titles like Douluo Dalu (Soul Land), Battle Through the Heavens and The King's Avatar have won over an international audience thanks to increasingly ambitious production values.

Long overshadowed by Japanese anime, Chinese animation is gaining growing recognition through streaming platforms and sharply rising production budgets. Donghua Fan curates the genre's best series to help French-speaking fans discover this fast-expanding universe.
